Speak Up
What is a concern or passion for which you are willing to speak up or fight for?

Perhaps it starts as a feeling deep inside as an action with which you do not agree or the result of an injustice you have seen or experienced. Maybe you finally find the words and it seems no one will listen. Next you look to take action, but are uncertain how you can have an impact.
Almost every person goes through this experience at least once between the ages of 18 and 35. In today’s society this experience is becoming more common. The question is do you give up your concern, find another passion, seek others with a similar feeling or voice, or are willing to take action. Taking constructive action toward social change can be a way to express yourself and make the world a better place to live … for you and others.
Where can you find someone or a group of people that can help you in being the voice and advocate you want to become? You realize it will take some new skills, organizing efforts and access to audiences or forums where you can be heard and seen. Where can you begin? Where can find help along the journey? Will you have the confidence to step forward and say “Send me”?
A new initiative is starting in 2026 called the Speak Up Collective. These are young adults committed to learning together and supporting each other in pursuing their concerns and passions. These may be about caring for creation, immigration, clean energy, climate justice or other issues. A committed core of experienced leaders has made themselves available to teach, accompany and support young adults on their journey. We offer this because those who are social change leaders today wish they had this support along their journey.
The first part of this journey, learning the basics, involves making a commitment of 4-6 hours per week for 16 weeks. Trained and experienced coaches work with a cohort of 4-6 young adults to determine individual priorities and the role(s) in which you are most comfortable. The cohort helps individuals share information, learn from each other and celebrate accomplishments. Subject matter experts help develop practical skills. Your coach accompanies you as you step out to raise your voice and take action. Your cohort and field experience will build your confidence and leadership skills. Then you can determine your next steps.
