“Would you rather invest money in your utilities or in your mission?” That statement from Ian Moise, Director of Catholic Energies, summarized a recent webinar from Lutherans Restoring Creation, “It’s Not Too Late for Renewables.” Moise, along with Rev. Dr. Barbara Rossing and Rev. Dr. Jim Martin-Schramm, shared insights and opportunities to reduce utility bills and move toward energy efficiency.
LRC is now partnering with Catholic Energies to provide services to faith communities (not just Lutherans) across the U.S. who want to take advantage of federal tax credits that are available through the end of 2027. In addition, Catholic Energies provides a wide variety of services (many of which are free) to help communities determine how they might better steward resources. For example, they will analyze your building’s utility bills (free) to then suggest whether or not a professional audit would be a good investment for you. And they can help you find an auditor that is right for you.
The time to act is NOW for solar! The federal tax credit, in the form of a direct pay rebate, is available through 2027 and requires that the project be electrified (completed). Don’t wait until you have money saved to invest. Catholic Energies can help with a system that doesn’t require immediate upfront costs.
