Parish Ministry Associate Application and Certification Process
1. Membership in a congregation of this synod is required for a layperson to enroll in the PMA program.
2. The application fee is $100, which covers the cost of background checks and administrative expenses related to the program.
3. The application includes recommendations from the applicant's pastor and/or congregation, as well as a brief essay of the applicant’s spiritual journey.
What is your faith story? In this summary, you can address things like your experience in the church, how God has met you
along the way, what you believe about God and why. (Approximately 500 words)
4. Prior to the approval of their enrollment application, each student must complete the Safe Gatherings online course and background check. A link to the training will be sent upon receipt of the application fee.
5. The applicant will have an entrance interview with the Parish Ministry Associate Team. If the applicant’s enrollment is accepted by the PMA Team, pending the results of their background check and Safe Gatherings course, the applicant is officially designated as a “student” in the PMA program.
