BISHOP MANSHOLT JOINS STATEMENT ON IMMIGRATION

Bishop Mansholt has joined his Methodist and Episcopal bishop counterparts in issuing a joint statement on immigration in Kansas. The letter was released Feb. 13 to members of the Kansas Legislature and to members of the three denominations. In it the bishops call on all Kansans to "reject demagoguery that is spreading its own kind of terror and fear." It also calls on national and state governments to more effectively deal with the millions of undocumented workers living in the United States. Bishop's Convocation
The annual theological conference of the Central States Synod, ELCA. It is an opportunity for leaders — lay and ordained — to gather and learn. The program costs are subsidized by the synod. Spouses or significant others are welcome as full participants; lay leaders are invited to attend. The 2008 Convo will be held at the Inn at Grand Glaize, Osage Beach Mo. The dates are October 28-30.

Faith and Wisdom
The Department for Ecumenical Affairs (ELCA), in cooperation with the Division for Ministry, eight partner denominations, and 200 regional organizations, now offers www.FaithandWisdom.org. Congregations can use this unique, non-commercial resource to find ecumenical - and other - events online. With over 15,000 events posted to date, thousands of people use this site each year.
