SPECIAL GUESTS/PRESENTERS
Stanley N. Olson: Pastor Stanley N. Olson has served since November 2005 as Executive Director of the Vocation and Education Unit of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Olson and other unit staff work to encourage and support all members of the ELCA as they live out their Christian faith through the callings of their daily lives. The unit’s partners include the seminaries, colleges and universities of the ELCA, its outdoor ministries, campus ministries, schools and early childhood education programs, lifelong learning programs, and its youth ministries. Vocation and Education oversees the candidacy program of the ELCA and works with our rosters of pastors, associates in ministry, deaconesses and diaconal ministers. Other efforts focus on support for the leadership of women, of people of color and languages other than English, for of persons living with disabilities, and on the prevention of sexual misconduct. An expanding emphasis is young adult ministry. Pastor Stanley Olson will be our Churchwide Representative and offer a special presentation on Friday evening.

Tammy L. Devine: Diaconal Minister, is wellness coordinator for the Board of Pensions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Tammy joined the Board of Pensions in 2004 to provide whole person health promotion, education and inspiration to ELCA rostered leaders and lay employees. She researches wellness-related education programs for ELCA health plan members: coordinating and providing support for initiatives and practices that encourage health and wellness in the workplace, healthier lifestyles and early illness detection. She also advocates for healthy leaders by speaking at ELCA synod and congregational gatherings. Tammy Devine will greet the Assembly Friday afternoon and offer a workshop Saturday afternoon.

Bible Study Leaders: The Rev. Dr. Duane H. Larson, president of Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa, and The Rev. Dr. Jim Echols, president of Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago.
