TASK FORCES BEGIN WORK ON MISSIONAL DIRECTIONS

Late this spring approximately 50 key leaders from across the synod met to begin work implementing the Missional Directions. A Task Force was established for each Missional Direction as well as a CORE Team, which includes one member from each Task Force, Ms. Melba Bangert (Synod Vice President), and Rev. Cynthia Schnaath (Synod Staff Liaison). The Missional Directions Task Force web pages are just being set up, so check back reguarly for updates and resources. PARTNERSHIP FOR MISSIONAL CHURCH GAINS MOMENTUM

There are 23 congregations in Central States Synod that are currently on a journey of spiritual discernment that empowers them to respond to God’s mission. A third cluster is forming and will begin the process this fall in Central Kansas. PMC takes local congregations on a three year journey of discovering God’s specific call to them for moving beyond doing mission to being missional in attitude, vision and action. 50 DAYS OF PRAYER
Preparing for the 2009 ELCA Churchwide Assembly

Prayers for Wisdom in Discernment
For the 50 days leading up to Aug. 17, [starting June 29] this church is invited to pray for wisdom in discernment for the ELCA and voting members of the 2009 Churchwide Assembly. Prayers, scripture readings and hymns are posted on the ELCA Web Site. Visit 50 Days of Prayer.

TOUR De REVS
100 Days for Hunger and Wellness

From May 13 – August 20, 2009 three ELCA pastors from the West Virginia / W Md Synod will put foot to pedal/ seat to saddle to travel over 13,000 miles on a custom made bamboo ‘triplet’ …a bicycle built for three.

The “Revs” will stop at all 65 ELCA synods. The stop in Kansas City will be July 29, arriving late afternoon. An evening presentation will be provided -- watch for details to be confirmed soon.

Their focus is to raise awareness of domestic and world hunger and to provide education on hunger and wellness issues. They are riding to raise funds for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal. For more information visit: www.tourderevs.org or www.elca.org/hunger. Download: Bulletin Insert.
